The Opportunity
Visa operates one of the largest and most complex payment processing networks in the world. The challenge was to make this invisible infrastructure tangible — translating vast amounts of live transaction data into something engaging, understandable and visually compelling for a physical space.
The installation needed to communicate Visa’s global reach and technical sophistication at a glance, while remaining constantly fresh and relevant through real‑time data.
What We Built
We built a large‑scale animated infographic system designed by Information is Beautiful and powered by live data from the Visa card processing network. The system continuously fetches and visualises real‑time information, transforming complex datasets into clear, animated stories.
The visualisations highlight insights such as where PIN mistakes are most frequently made, how payment types are distributed across the network (contactless, chip and PIN and others), recent transaction sizes, and how behaviour changes hour by hour around the world.
Results
The finished installation is displayed on a large screen in Visa’s headquarters reception area, creating an immediate and memorable impression for visitors. By combining live data, animation and design, the project turns abstract network activity into a living representation of Visa’s global impact — reinforcing trust, scale and innovation through real‑time storytelling.
